Welcome to Saltaire Spotlight - your guide to everything that’s happening in Saltaire and Shipley.

Morning! Big fortnight ahead, because the Saltaire Festival has rolled back into the village for its annual takeover [clear your diary, we'll wait]. Nine days, hundreds of things to do, and a good chunk of them free. Here's what we'd make a beeline for.

The big one

SALTAIRE FESTIVAL: Nine days of music, markets, open gardens, talks and family fun, spilling out across the village and Roberts Park. Programme's enormous, so treat the picks below as a starter [the rest is on the festival site]. Village-wide, Fri 12 to Sun 20 Sep · Full programme

The next two weeks

Thu 11 to Sat 13 Sep

PIANO VILLAGE: Pop-up pianos and performances dotted around the village to open the festival. Saltaire United Reformed Church and around · Details

Sat 12 & Sun 13 Sep

YARDFEST: The self-styled "smallest festival with the biggest heart" [and it punches well above its size], with live music, Cap and Collar beer, street food and face painting. Upper Ada Street · 12pm-5:30pm · Details

Sun 13 Sep

WURLITZER ORGAN CONCERT: The mighty Saltaire Wurlitzer in full voice with organist Robert Wolfe [it is genuinely enormous]. Victoria Hall · 2:30pm · Details

LIVE MUSIC: Dennis Ellsworth Band bring their Canadian roots and Americana to the Live Room. Caroline Street Social Club · 6pm · Details

Tue 15 Sep

COMEDY NIGHT: Festival stand-up at the brewery tap, pint in hand. Salt Beer Factory · 7:30pm · Details

Wed 16 Sep

SALTAIRE SWING: A night of swing and jazz at Caroline Street [dancing shoes optional but encouraged]. Caroline Street Social Club · 7pm · Details

Fri 18 to Sun 20 Sep

CONTINENTAL STREET MARKET: The festival's food, drink and stalls take over the village centre to see things out in style. Victoria Road and around · Details

Sat 19 to Sun 20 Sep

VINTAGE FAIR: A weekend of proper vintage fashion and homeware, going strong since 2007. Victoria Hall · Details

Always on

Salts Mill: the David Hockney galleries plus Ian Beesley's Life Goes On photography, free, all year. The Saltaire Farmers' Market takes September off and is back at Roberts Park on Sun 11 Oct.

See you out there [probably near the street food], Elaine
